Ondřej Brýna - INTER-PHASES

The Václav Chad Gallery, in collaboration with the 64th Zlín Film Festival – the International Festival of Films for Children and Youth, presents INTER-PHASES, a solo exhibition by the talented twenty-year-old artist Ondřej Brýna. Ondřej began his artistic journey in the Multimedia Department at the Secondary School of Trade, Applied Arts, and Design in Plzeň and is now continuing his studies at FAMU in the Department of Animated Creation. He brings a unique collection of his works in puppet animation, film creation, and scenography to Zlín.

The exhibition offers an exclusive opportunity to explore the artist's most well-known projects, including the animated music videos "Smoking is a Disgusting Habit" for Pokáč and "Robots" for the Plzeň band Gary's Houseboat. Other exhibited works include "Managing Anger," a film reflecting life situations full of stress and internal aggression, and "Dear Franz," a story capturing the last 10 years of Franz Kafka's life, dealing with themes of life passion, human despair, love, and hope. Additionally, "Don't Lose Your Pencil…," an animation exploring what happens when a pencil falls to the ground, created in one week as a final exam, and his first animation titled "Rat Trap," which connects live footage of a cat with an animated rat. This creates a unique opportunity to glimpse behind the scenes of the creative process and see how Ondřej's passion for stories and characters comes to life on stage and screen.

INTER-PHASES showcases creativity, innovation, and Ondřej's ability to transcend traditional boundaries between various art forms. The exhibition not only displays his technical skill and artistic vision but also his ability to draw viewers into fascinating stories through puppets and animation. With more than 30 exhibited scenes from puppet animated films, 60 puppets, and countless framed sketches, designs, photographs, and paintings, complemented by multimedia installations and video projections and examples of puppet animation film creation processes, this project presents a unique cross-section of his work.

Thus, the exhibition is not only an aesthetic experience but also provides a deeper insight into the artist's creative mind and working process, serving as an inspiration for all those interested in the intersection of traditional art forms and new media. Each phase of creation reveals the endless possibilities of artistic expression.
